Abstract

In the article theissues of therelationship between language and culture in teaching a foreign language at thedepartments oflanguage specialties of higher education in the context ofa dialogue ofcultures were analyzed. Theproperties ofthe integrative nature ofthis interaction were emphasized, themain aspects oftherelationship between language and culture were identified, and methods and techniques that contributed to more effective mastery ofa foreign language through immersion in a cultural context were explored. The concept ofinteraction between thediscipline “Basic Foreign Language” and cultural studies is becoming increasingly relevant in thecontext oflanguage education and intercultural dialogue. Thearticle contains theresults ofresearch that have shown that theintroduction ofcultural information into theeducational process can significantly increase themotivation ofstudents to learn English and contribute to a deeper understanding ofnative and foreign cultures. Theauthors suggest a number ofways to develop intercultural communication skills within theframework ofteaching thetarget language, such as practice in oral speech in theclassroom, communication with native speakers, performing various tasks related to cultural information, based on speaking, listening, reading and writing, visiting and taking part in cultural events, role-playing games, discussions and project work. Consequently, it is recommended to teach elements and realities of thestudent native culture in a foreign language as the significant part oftheeducational activities.
