Psychological well-being in secondary education: research analysis

The psychological well-being of schoolchildren affects not only their current state, but also their future success and adaptation to adulthood. It is formed under theinfluence of many factors, such as family environment, school atmosphere, social ties and personal qualities. Thepurpose of thisstudy is to analyze thestate ofresearch on thepsychological well-being oflearners and teachers in thecontext ofsecondary education. A search was conducted forarticles available in full-text format, published in thelast five years in English in two authoritative databases Scopus and Web of Science. A total of48research articles were successfully collected and analyzed according to the established criteria. Thesearch term used was “psychological AND well-being”. Thesearch was narrowed down by other search terms such as “school”“schoolchild”“student”,“teacher”and“education”. Theconducted research analysis contributed to a more holistic understanding of themultifaceted aspects of psychological well-being ofteachers and learners. Thepsychological wellbeing ofstudents in recent years has been studied through the influence ofa number ofvariables: stress in the school environment, family environment, theatmosphere ofrelationships in theeducational environment, bullying, learning motivation, personal success, theinfluence oftheuse ofdigital technologies in learning, theoverall organization of theeducational process, and teaching style. Theaccumulated body ofknowledge in research requires systematization and integration to create a model ofeducational environment organization aimed at personal development and psychological well-being ofstudents and teachers.
